I am finally comfortable in my own body and my body image has improved significantly so I am in my “wellness” era.
I eat good portions of varied food (carbs, protein, veggies, fruit but also pizza, burgers, full fat milk drinks and sweet treats).
I exercise when I want and no longer chase goals. So instead of always trying to increase my run distance, I run 5km bur more frequently and at more leisurely pace. I lift because I am no longer afraid of being “bigger”.
I sleep more.
I (try to) stress less.
I am genuinely healthier than I have ever been.
Oh yes and SPF. For the love of all that you hold dear, use SPF 🤣
What trendy beauty/wellness things actually make a difference?

Tretinoin for anti-aging has been thoroughly researched and is scientifically proven.
Strength-training is scientifically proven to increase muscle tone and bone density and is key to preventing osteoporosis.
What's the least obvious wellness advice you can give no one talks about?

My move: you should really wash your feet, heel and toes, between fingers too; just standing in a bath isn't enough for proper hygiene.
Also, I'd mention drinking good cocoa because it's such a gamechanger to improve you mood almost without any serious drawbacks. Andrew mentioned it in the podcast about dopamine and Bryan Johnson is a huge advocate of this but I still think it's underrated.
Of course, first of all we need to eat good, exercise and sleep well.

Practice Gratitude. I never go to sleep without saying at least 3 things I'm grateful for. No matter how small or trivial they may seem. It helps me to gain perspective on life no matter the situation.

Many wellness activities ARE ways of trying to cope with your situation. For example, eating healthy foods, exercising, drinking water, getting enough sleep... these are just basic physiological needs, and taking care of them helps us cope with the other things that are going on in our lives.
No, drinking water or going for a walk or getting a good night’s sleep isn’t going to cure your anxiety or depression, but it will help you manage it a bit better, because taking care of your body will help you take care of your mind.
Anyway, you’re right of course that nobody should be blamed for “not trying hard enough.” But at the same time, although our mental health concerns aren’t our FAULT, they are our RESPONSIBILITY to manage, and small wellness activities can go a long way and should be encouraged.
Just my two cents, lol! I’m not a fan of exercise, but I do struggle with anxiety, and every time I force myself to exercise when in the middle of an anxiety episode, I feel so so so so much better.

My body is extremely sensitive to stress, so most of the big ticket items for me have been things that help with stress management. Losing caffeine has made the biggest difference for me. I know it can be an extremely positive part of some people’s lives, but everything got better for me when I cut it out. I look 5 years younger lol. Also magnesium!
Another counterintuitive thing that made a huge difference is exercising less intensely. I focus more now on being generally active and curious and following my interests towards things that keep me on my feet (for example, exploring a cool wetland near my house or playing with dogs at a shelter) instead of grinding away at the gym every day. I do weighted resistance training 2-3 times a week to maintain muscle mass, but I’m not a gym rat anymore. HUGE mental health difference

STRESS can impact your body in ways you may not expect it to. For example, 2023 has been a very stressful year for me. I tried to lose weight earlier in the year - no success. My face also looked very gaunt-like, even though my face routine was pretty robust. In the past 2 months or so, I’ve been less stressed than before, and I lost 8 pounds + my face looks “normal”/great again.
ETA: did not expect this to get so many engagements. Hi Buzzfeed 👋🏽
